A Night with Knights at Medieval Times (contest and discount too!)

You know those experiences that you wish you could bottle and save forever?

The ones where your kids light up and live in that moment, exactly the way you had planned?

That was this weekend’s experience at Medieval Times!

Jayden and I were attending for the first time with Paul and Ty, who had been before.  We were lucky enough to bring last month’s winners and their families as well! From the excitement that built up over the day until we left the venue, we were transported into a different time and place.

We were so thrilled to be included in this special Blogger event with PTPA so we arrived with lots of time to check things out before the show!  Right after we checked in, we got our photo taken with the King (although, I think Ty thought a photo with the Princess might be nice too!).

From that moment on, the looks on our boy’s faces were priceless.  With staff dressed in period clothes and speaking as if they really were from Medieval Times, we knew we were in for a special night.  Making a first stop to get some knight-wear, we then headed to the Torture Chamber to see some pretty freaky torture devices from these times (our boys could totally handle the descriptions and props, but some kids might not).

Once we had had a chance to roam around and check out the main hall, including the falcons and the bar (score!), we were called into the arena to take our seats around the sand-filled centre “stage”.  It was really incredible to see everyone in their sections according to which knight they would be cheering for!  We got the RED knight, and while he didn’t win, he had long, flowing hair and threw me a rose from his stallion (not too bad!).

We were served an incredible dinner of Dragon’s Blood (tomato soup), Roast Dragon (chicken), baked potato and garlic toast and had to eat it all with our hands!  I have to admit that this was totally fun and the boys were pretty pleased that they didn’t have to use cutlery!  We ate our meal and watched the Knights battle for the top honours and the eye of the fair Princess.  Beautiful horses were paraded around the arena to screams from the crowd (the red section was pretty loud!), as their Knight fought vicious battles on horse and foot using weapons from long ago.

I can’t truly explain the fun we had or the look on the boy’s faces as we watched the show and even got photos taken with “real knights”.  Taking our swords and shield home to re-enact all that we saw, we have been reliving those memories all week!  It is a MUST see for families!
