Fertility Facts: Knowledge is Power

How much do you know about your own fertility?

Did you know that we were the 1 in 6 couples who face infertility?

Did you know that the average cost for IVF is $8K-$14K?

Did you know that provincial governments are beginning to recognize infertility as a medical issue and offering funding?

Did you know that May 24-31st 2014 is Infertility Awareness Week?

The Infertility Awareness Association of Canada is holding its 8th Annual Canadian Infertility Awareness Week dedicated to raising awareness and breaking the silence about infertility and fertility related issues.

How can you get involved?

  • Host or attend one of the many IAAC events that will be taking place across Canada.
  • Write to your provincial leaders to push for Provincial funding for IVF treatments (great news is that both the Liberal and NDP support funding for ONE cycle of IVF).
  • You can take the CIAW Challenge to show your support.
  • Take this quick quiz to see just how much you know about infertility and the myths.
  • Share your story, like I have, so that other couples can feel less alone in their journey.
  • Follow @IAAC_ACSI and the hashtag #creatingfamilies on social media to get more information, share your story or receive support from other couples struggling with infertility.

I am honoured to support #creatingfamilies for Infertility Awareness Week 2014 and have been compensated to write this post.

I love when you share health related posts like this one. You are one of the best examples of an advocate that anyone could ever find. I am still shocked that some people don;t understand this as a health issue when in fact the WHO does see it that way.
