The holidays bring so many mixed emotions when you’ve lost someone you love. I’m excited that my holiday shopping list is getting shorter, but I also feel the sadness when I walk past our tree twinkling with all the ornaments of the Christmases gone by. I love buying gifts for my beautiful boys but still ache to buy one new Elmo for my Zack. I love the celebration with family and friends, but I feel an emptiness that stays with me all through December.
It’s tough to balance the sadness I feel, with the desire to make the holidays really special for our family. I love our Christmas traditions and they bring us such comfort as we make our way through another season. We are a family who loves to watch movies together and some of the best ways of making the holidays a bit sweeter is by baking with my boys and enjoying them while we watch one of these family holiday movies and snuggle by the fire!
