Working from home has its ups and downs….yes, I talk to myself often since there is no one at my water cooler and I’ve been known to not shower and wear pjs all day but lately, it’s really been clear that this is where I’m supposed to be.
I have been totally loving my new role at momstown– I’m inspired, motivated, appreciated and challenged. The hours just seem to fit for our family- I work at home and then Jayden is with me on the other days- that feels really good for all of us. Drop offs and Pick ups at the bus stop, volunteering at school, play dates most nights- we are really settling into a nice routine.
With our new schedule, the boys have really been benefiting from not only my happier disposition thanks to a great new gig, but also my time and focus. Homework is a HUGE priority for us this school year and I’m starting to see the results of our hard work! Without fail, we all sit down after school to do homework, read or do workbooks on our own shelves.
Here are my HUGE Mommy Victories this week…and I’m hoping for many more!
1. An A on a Grade 4 math test is the only proof that THIS mom needs of the benefits of spending hours practicing and doing four-digit subtraction! While I wasn’t Ty’s biggest fan those two days (and man, did my brain hurt), he now realizes that I’m always looking out for him. I’m always here to help him succeed…and sometimes, we do!
2. Jayden is reading….like, REALLY reading! We have not only gone up a level in books in his SK class, but he now looks forward to reading with new confidence! On our days together, he and I have been creating books about wrestling, hockey, his toys and ANYTHING he wants to so that he reads, draws and feels excited to share his work! He is doing so well and I’m one proud mommy. Not only do I love this time with him one-on-one, we really have a great way of learning and having fun together (like sticking gummy worms up our noses)! Paul read with him the other night and looked over at me- “honey, it is really clear that your hard work with Jayden is making a difference“.
No sweeter words were spoken to me. I’m making a difference in the lives of our boys…and THAT is a sweet victory.
