When I was on mat leave with Ty, one of my favourite things was to go to Movies for Mommies with my friends and our babies. We would watch “grown up movies” while our babies slept, nurse or even cried. It was a great way to connect with other moms and enjoy a great movie with dim lights and lower sound. One time, on a daytime movie date with Paul, he actually used up all the complimentary diapers and wipes with Ty’s dirty diaper and had to ask another mom to come and find me in the theatre to help!
When my twins were born, I brought along my BFF to double team the boys! I didn’t want to miss out on the experience of daytime movie watching but I needed an extra pair of hands!
Now the same amazing mom who created Movies for Mommies has developed ‘Toons for Toddlers’ – 60 minute, toddler friendly, weekend screening that runs with lights left dim and reduced sound levels! I really appreciate that the conditions for these screenings are optimal for families who have children with special needs, hearing loss or autism. They have hosted screening events for Thomas the Tank Engine, In the Night Garden and Toopy and Binoo….now I’m excited to announce that on October 20th and 21st, they will return with an exclusive 60 minute screening of The Wiggles Big Birthday! in selected cities across Canada, including: Toronto, Ottawa, London, Cobourg, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver.
I’ll admit that I have a crush on Anthony…if you’ve ever seen him do chin ups on the show, you will know why! So, if you OR your kids are Wiggles fans, you probably know that the original cast is being disbanded and a new wave of Wiggles are about to come on board (thankfully, Anthony will be staying). This screening is the best of the original Wiggles gang (with Greg), celebrating 20 years of Wiggle-dom! As an added bonus, there will be a 10 minute sneak peak of Dino Dan (for any budding paleontologist out there!). At the end of the show, each child receives a small gift (colouring sheet, stickers, or other stuff).
The best part to me is that the tickets are extremely affordable.. Only $6 each per person (babes in arms are free). It’s the perfect family outing or date for grandparents to take the little ones! Bloggers going to conferences that weekend will have this perfect idea for Dads and the kiddos!
For Toronto: Screenings will be at either on Saturday, or Sunday Oct. 20th & 21st at 10am at Rainbow Cinemas Promenade (Thornhill), Rainbow Cinemas Market Square (Front & Jarvis), Rainbow Cinemas Woodbine (Etobicoke) The Fox Cinema in the Beach, Revue Cinema, High Park. A full list of screenings, dates and times posted here.
Disclaimer: I have been a long time fan of Movies for Mommies and The Wiggles, and I was happy to be compensated for supporting this event.
