We recently made a huge decision.
We pulled Jayden from his daycare, where he goes on the days when he is not in JK.
I’m really excited to have him home with me- he’s a totally cool kid, loves to play on his own (so I can try to get some work done), a lot of fun, easy to please and is a total mommy’s boy (guaranteed cuddles daily)! We really haven’t ever had this kind of one-on-one time to spend together. As a twin, he never got me alone and actually got dragged to all of Zack’s therapy appointments. He was always so awesome during those visits and we tried to let him participate as much as possible…but it was never really special time for him. I’m really happy that he and I can just have quality time together….more time for Lego Duplo!
Ever since our trip to Chicago’s Lego store, we have been obsessed with Lego sets. In fact, Ty and I use building a special Lego set as our OUR time together and he calls me his “Lego Partner”. Jayden is SO creative and loves to use his imagination. He can make the most amazing structures or just spend an hour role playing with the Lego characters. His favourites are the police and fire fighters!
When I saw that they were looking for moms to spend 30 Days Playing with Lego…I jumped at the chance! Not only does this mean cool new toys for the boys, but it also helps me to try new ways to play (growing up with dolls didn’t teach me much about building towers!).
Did you know that a LEGO DUPLO brick has to pass a bite test, a pull test, a pressure test and a step test? Or that a DUPLO storage box is designed so that it will not break if your child (or even Jayden) climbs on to it?
When the toys arrived, I couldn’t wait to open the boxes and get started- the photo shows you exactly how Ty and Jayden felt about this new “job” they had.
We have spent the last week playing with the sets and using them in new and creative ways. Over the weekend, we stayed in our pajamas for both days and created a few new masterpieces! The zoo was on fire one day and we rescued the animals and another day the fire fighter was eaten by the lion…didn’t say it wasn’t gruesome! We even created a tower for Ty’s Grade 3 homework on structures and stability! How much fun is that?
Over the next 6 weeks, I will be following the challenges on Today’s Parent…want to join me? Come up with some new ways to play and you could Win a Trip to Legoland!!
Join me Monday, February 27th at 8:30 for the #LegoDuplo Twitter Party! Follow my friends at Mom Central Canada (@MC_Canada) for the deets. The fun starts at 8:30pm EST, and of course, there will be great conversation and prizes.
I am participating in the LEGO® DUPLO® program by Mom Central Canada. I received compensation for my participation in this campaign, including great product. I only participate in programs that are already a big part of our family time. These opinions are mine.
