While in NYC last week, I got a phone call from Ty. I instantly heard the enthusiam in his voice, the sense of pride and the excitement to tell me something awesome…it was the voice of the Ty that I have been missing.
He went on to explain all the details of the upcoming event that he had planned- ALL ON HIS OWN. An event that I had not be asked about or consulted on at all.
He had gone on our computer, and created an invitation (with all the necessary details) to ask everyone to a Nerf Water Fight at our house on the last day of school. Ask everyone he did…in fact, he printed 32 copies and handed them out at school while I was away, then to our neighbours and friends.
Part of me wanted to get upset that he didn’t ask either his dad or me, but instead I chose to focus on the part of me that was so blown away by his initiative and enthusiam. I was so incredibly proud with not only his skills on the computer (even sourcing the images), but also of the party planning details he had considered (he gets this from ME!).
I love that the party is running from 3:10-4:45pm (cute, huh?) and that he remembered to include what to bring and the RSVP. I’ve received a few phone calls from parents about what to bring and for more details (like, “is this for real?”) and all the kids seem so excited for this event…all because of Ty’s idea!
So, I’m off to the store to get the refreshments, since that has been the role assigned to me for this amazingly cool party!

The fact that he took this on all on his own means he watches you, learns from you and loves you! This is amazing. I can’t wait to see the photos and read more about his event! Good luck Ty!!!
